Dyson Fans & Purifiers
The Dyson device category connects supported Wi-Fi fans and air purifiers to HomeKit. Home Kat Bridge requires your Dyson account to load registered devices and obtain their local connection details, so it can then communicates with them directly over your local network.
Before starting, set up the device in the MyDyson app, connect it to the same local network as Home Kat Bridge and confirm that it is registered to your Dyson account.
Configure your Dyson account
Open Settings, select Dyson and switch Enabled on. Under Dyson Cloud, select Cloud Settings and enter:
- Region — choose Global unless the account uses Dyson's China service.
- Email and Password — for the China region, enter the account phone number instead of an email address.
- Country and Locale — these default from the device running Home Kat Bridge. Change them only when the Dyson account was created for another country or language.
Select Send Code. Dyson sends a one-time code to the account; enter it in OTP Code and select Verify. When the sign-in succeeds, the page reports how many devices were loaded. Account information is stored in your private iCloud keychain. Saved accounts can be reentered using the key button. Logout ends the current session, while Delete Credentials removes the saved account information.
If Dyson returns no devices, check the region, country and locale and confirm that the fans or purifiers are registered to the same account.
Add devices
Devices returned by Dyson Cloud appear under Available Dyson Devices. Press the plus button to expose one to HomeKit. It is then moveed up to the Connected to HomeKit list; press the minus button to remove it.
Other Visible Dyson Devices lists Dyson equipment found on the local network but not matched to the cloud account. Add that equipment to the same account in the MyDyson app, then sign in again.
Each row shows whether the device is reachable and whether an address or local credentials are missing. Select the row to edit its Home Kat name and local connection details. Cloud-linked devices normally fill these fields automatically. If they do not, you can supply the IP address, MQTT prefix, MQTT username and MQTT password. (Older devices that use the eight-character password printed on the product label normally require SHA-512 + Base64 as the password format). Changes are saved automatically when you leave the page.
Using Dyson fans and purifiers
The Dyson page groups accessories under Fans and Purifiers. Tap a tile to switch the device on or off. Its status shows Off, the current fan speed, or the fan speed with Auto. A dimmed tile means that the device cannot be reached locally.
In the Home app, a fan supports power, automatic or manual operation, fan speed and oscillation. A purifier provides the same controls as an air-purifier accessory and also reports air quality, temperature, humidity, filter life and available pollutant readings such as PM2.5, PM10, volatile organic compounds and nitrogen dioxide.
The controls and sensors shown by the Home app depend on the Dyson model and on what Apple chooses to display for that accessory type. Home Kat Bridge does not expose heating, night mode, airflow direction or other model-specific controls that are not listed above.
HomeKit hints
Assign the device to the room whose air it measures. This makes Siri requests such as “turn on the bedroom purifier” unambiguous and keeps its temperature, humidity and air-quality readings with the correct room.
You can include power and operating mode in scenes and automations, and use the exposed air-quality or environmental readings as automation conditions where the Home app supports them. The MyDyson app can still be used, but HomeKit may take a moment to reflect a change made elsewhere.
Home Kat Bridge must remain running, and the Dyson device must remain powered and reachable on the same local network.
Subscription
Dyson support requires a small six-monthly subscription. A one-week trial period is available so you can test it with your devices.
