Tuya Cloud Setup
Tuya devices can sometimes be controlled locally, using credentials which are associated with your Tuya account. Some Tuya devices can only be controlled via the cloud.
Before being able to control Tuya devices via this app, first download the Smarthome or Tuya app from the app store, create an account, and add and setup the devices. We will refer to this account as the Tuya App Account
Secondly, you will need to create a Tuya Dev Account, it is this account which will provide access to your devices.

1. Create a Tuya Dev Account
- Sign up / log in at iot.tuya.com (the Tuya IoT Development Platform).
- After creating the account, log in and set the account type to individual developer
2. Create a Tuya Cloud project
Cloud → Project Management → Create Cloud Project.
* **Project Name: **Home Kat
* Industry: Smart Home
* Development Method: Smart Home.
* Data Center: Select the same data center as you have setup in the Tuya or Smarthome app for your account
3. Authorize the required API services
If not presented when creating the project, In the project, go to Service API → Go to Authorize and make sure these are subscribed (all free):
- IoT Core
- Authorization Token Management
- Device Status Notification
- Smart Home Basic Service
- Data Dashboard Service
- [deprecated] Smart Home Scene Linkage (for scenes)
- IR Control Hub Open Service (for IR devices)
⚠️You must extend the API trial period (for free) every 6 months here: Tuya IoT Platform > Cloud > Cloud Services > IoT Core (the first-time subscription only gives you 1 month).
Following Authorization, the Project Overview will provide your Authorization Client ID and Access Secret, which you will need to add in the Tuya Configuration in HomeKat
